Summer is hot and full of exciting tech news! This month we read the good, the bad, and the basics of technology. The good news is that those with impaired mobility may find life a little easier thanks to a major tech upgrade to their everyday walking canes. The bad news is that researchers have found Bluetooth flaws that are comprising your devices' security. Lastly, read through the basics on IC design resources and how they work with electronic components and other tech.

Robotic cane shown to improve stability in walking

Canes that have existed since ancient times are getting an extreme upgrade to help the elderly and those with impaired mobility improve their walking stability. Engineers developed autonomous robots called CANINE that can "walk" alongside the person to give them light touch support and increase their self awareness.

Researchers discovered a critical Bluetooth flaw that is leaving tons of devices open for digital attack. Attackers can break into the Bluetooth pairing procedure to spy on data shared between devices that are currently or have previously been paired. Researchers call this the KNOB attack, and they urge everyone to update their devices when a solution is available.
